What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure where a dermatologist or licensed professional uses a special tool that looks like a pen to prick your skin with extremely small needles. Your esthetician will slowly and gently run the device over your face.

During your treatment, the needles on the microneedling device create hundreds of micro-injuries, or small, nearly imperceptible holes in your skin. Your skin’s natural reaction to any injury is to heal itself by creating more collagen, which promotes elasticity and firmness in your skin. 

As your body produces more skin cells to heal from the slight abrasions, your new skin will have a more even texture and tone. Most estheticians recommend a minimum of three procedures to achieve noticeable results.

One of the most common reasons people choose to experience microneedling is to reduce the appearance of acne scars, pore size, fine lines, and sun/age spots. It’s also proven effective on areas other than the face—it can reduce cellulite and scarring on other areas of the body.

Your esthetician will most likely apply a numbing cream to your face before your procedure to alleviate any potential discomfort you might experience during.

In the first 24 hours after your first microneedling procedure, you might have some redness, dryness, or irritation. It should alleviate within 48-hours.
